Our Kindergarten Blog : The Kindergarteners Interpretation of Our Creed

This week we have been focusing on learning all about our creed! Each day we read a story about one of the words, discuss what the word means to us and think about how we can live by the creed. Here are some of our interpretations of courage, compassion, honesty and respect (responsibility is next week).

Courage

To me, courage is:

“riding my bike without (training) wheels.” –Aa.S

“telling someone not to pick a flower.” –A.Y

“standing up for others.” –A.M

“being nice after a fight.” –A.W

“when I brought up two apple juices. One for me and one for my sister. When she didn’t want hers it took courage to put it back downstairs and not drink it.” –D.B

“standing up for myself and others.” –E.H

“doing something you are scared of.” –E.L

“being nice and standing up.” –G.A

“my sister doing a back flip off the diving board for the first time.” –G.H

“helping someone, even when you are afraid.” –L.H

“my dad jumping into the ocean.” –L.N

“standing up for yourself.”-N.S

“being kind. That is just a little bit of love.” –S.O

“giving my mom a hug goodbye on the first day of kindergarten.” –S.G

“saying ‘no’ when you get scared.” –S.W-B

“doing a back flip off the diving board.” –W.F

Compassion

To me compassion:

“feels like helping my friends when they feel bad.” –Aa.S

“looks like helping others.” –A.Y

“looks like helping my sister down the slide.” –A.M

“is when Georgia is crying I still give her everything she wants.” –A.L

“helping my sister when she is sad… to make her happy.” –A.C

“is helping someone that is hurt.” –A.S

“is being nice to someone and caring about them.” –G.A

“looks asking friends to play.” –G.H

“is our friends taking care of cats.” –M.S

“looks like love.” –M.B

“is helping my friend when they get hurt.” –N.S

“is helping my brother.” –S.O

“is my brother letting me go first.” –S.W

“is helping my little sister when she is crying.” –S.G

“is letting someone else win.” –S.W-B

“is helping someone when they scrape their knee.” –W.F

Honesty

"This is what honesty looks like." -M.B

To me, honesty:

“is truth. In the picture I am asking Georgia ‘Did you throw that ball?’ and she said ‘Yes.’” –A.L

“is when you copy you are not being honest.” –L.H

“in the picture the angel is being honest to the bunny that she can’t fly.” –M.S

“when you aren’t honest you will feel sad. When you are not honest you make other people sad.” –M.B

Respect

To me respect is:

“helping someone that is sad.” -A.C

“asking a friend to copy-draw.” –A.M

“listening when someone is speaking.” –A.W

“listening.” –S.W

The majority of our week was spent learning about our classroom materials, routines and our new kindergarten schedule.
