Two weeks ago, the Lynch family taught us all about bees! Their lesson began by teaching us about the different types of honey bees (Queen, Drone & Worker), the roles they play and how we can identify them in nature. After learning that all of the Worker Bees are female (Woo Hoo!) The girls were given a Q-Tip that was dipped in either vanilla, lemon, coconut & parfume. They then had to find their hive by matching their scents (so cool!).
Once in their hives our worker bees flew from flower to flower, grabbing and dispersing pollen as they flew between the flowers and hive.
Once the girls had pollinated the flowers and brought some pollen back to their hives they watched a short video on the bees Waggle Dance. They then got to boogie their booties around the room doing their own special Waggle Dance. The lesson ended with a tasting of honey from the Lynch family bees!
