Ms. Hamre did a fabulous job documenting the class happenings a few weeks ago with her borrowed iPad. Below are the movies she created, which I think are amazing. Ms. Hamre deserves full credit!
On Friday we went on a field trip to the Randall Museum. Ms. Hamre captured every moment of the trip so I will let her video do the talking.

As the girls continued on their quest to define what made a bug and insect, they decided that the information must lay somewhere within the depths of our non-fiction books. Armed with colorful post-it tabs, the girls rotated around the room tabbing pages they thought would help us with creating our definition. Below is a video Ms. Hamre made of the process.

After our field trip, interviewing Ms. Ray and looking through our insect books, the girls decided that and insect "is an animal that has six legs, three body parts, two eyes, three pairs of legs, a pair of antennae and may have wings." Using this as their guide, the girls got to make their own real or pretend insects with any mixture of two mediums that they wanted. Below are photos of their wacky insects.
Thank you all so much for your participation with the kindergarten assembly, book sharing and field trip. It was a busy week and we all loved having you there. Here are some photos I snuck as we all crammed into our tiny classroom.
As our Eric Carle study continued, we read House for Hermit Crab and the girls used magic dice (a die within a die) to roll and determine which sea creature they could add to Hermit Crabs house.
